The Boys showrunner announces his favorite review of the series finale

The final episode of The Boys has apparently upset Elon Musk, which is not bothering Eric Kripke in the slightest

One thing that you can’t say about The Boys Season 5 finale is that it was subtle in its approach to political satire. You could only really miss what it was trying to say about the world we live in and people in power if you were willfully ignorant, possibly because you yourself were the target of his parody. Elon Musk was unsurprisingly not a fan of The Boys ending, which seems to have only sparked joy in showrunner Eric Kripke.

Major spoilers for The Boys ending are below.

The final confrontation of The Boys played out exactly as it always had to. Homelander, stripped of his god-like powers, falls to his knees and begs for his life. Grovelling, he offers to perform oral sex on Butcher and, unprompted, offers to “eat shit” if Butcher will just let him live. The point is that Homelander, like all dictators and fascists, is a coward who will not hesitate to debase himself to survive. Just like The Deep is incapable of redemption which is what ultimately sealed his fate.

“Pathetic,” was the one-word review that Elon Musk shared about this ending when it was portrayed as a thinly-veiled parody of Trump. It is worth noting that Trump is never mentioned in the show, which has alternate politics to the real world, so any view that Homelander was a stand-in for Trump is down to the similarities in their actions and behavior.

The thing is, Eric Kripke isn’t bothered by upsetting Elon Musk. In fact, he retweeted the post, saying, “OMG this is his review of what @TheBoysTV did to Homelander. I’ll never get a better review ever.”

The thing is, we suspect that Elon Musk never watched The Boys finale because, if he had, he probably would have been more upset about the character called The Disrupter, who is the richest man in the world, an amateur astronaut, is obsessed with white fertility rates, and wears black-on-black embroidered baseball caps in the White House. Homelander unceremoniously kills this character, who is the most obvious parody of Musk you can imagine, by launching him into space. So it is likely that Musk is just parroting the responses of other right-wing figures on social media, which is hilarious because the context of The Boys ending is far worse for him than what it may or may not have said about Trump.

The Boys final episode is currently streaming on Prime Video. Watch it and see what has Elon Musk so upset.

They are brash, unforgiving, and a little rough around the edges... and they're the good guys! The heroes of Prime Video's The Boys, led by Karl Urban's Butcher, go up against the 'superheroes' that is the Seven, led by Anthony Starr's Homelander, leader of the Seven. With that show's five seasons plus spinoffs such as Gen V, Diabolical, and reportedly more, there's a lot to the Boys Franchise, and we're here to help... with:
