It’s hard to imagine anyone but Brandon Rogers voicing Blitzo Bucko. The chaotic imp assassin is one of the best parts of Helluva Boss, thanks in no small part to Rogers’s entertaining voice acting. However, when the actor and comedian was first cast on the adult animated series, he had an entirely different character in mind.

“I just got a phone call from my manager saying there’s this girl on YouTube who makes cartoons who wants to have coffee with you,” Blitzo voice actor Brandon Rogers recalled at a Helluva Boss spotlight panel at GalaxyCon Raleigh 2026. “I met up with her and got offered this. She showed me a picture of the characters and she said, ‘Why don’t you play this one?’ I said, ‘Yes.’ The whole thing was just yeses.”

The only thing that gave Rogers pause was his character. Before he knew everything about Blitzo, he was initially drawn to Moxxie, he said: “I wanted to be Moxxie. Just going off of looks. I thought he looked the coolest, and then I read who these characters are, and I’m so glad I’m not him. [Richard Steven Horvitz] can have that character. I love Blitzo. I love him so much. And I was a personality hire, not an experience hire, but I’m still proud that it fell in my lap nonetheless.”
