We already know that Hal Jordan's former mentor-turned-adversary, Sinestro, is appearing in HBO's Lanterns series, thanks to a performance by Danish actor Ulrich Thomsen. But there's a lingering question mark hovering above actor Garret Dillahunt, who is playing a seemingly human villain in the show named William Macon, Sr. 

Macon, Sr. is an influential man residing in the Nebraska town that Hal Jordan and John Stewart investigate over the course of the season. But is he really who he appears to be? The trailer for Lanterns revealed that there are shapeshifting Manhunters on Earth, who can take the form of anyone or any species they choose. Could Dillahunt's character be one of these storied villains?

In an interview with SYFY Wire, Dillahunt wryly addressed the speculation about his role. "It might be a front for some other kind of character that's very familiar to you all," the actor began. "I don't want to rule out the possibility that maybe 'William Macon' is just a secret identity that had to be created. It was fun to be able to create him from scratch—at least that facet of the character."

So, could William Macon, Sr. be a front for a character we're already familiar with as DC fans? We'll just have to wait and see.
