Surprise, DC fans! HBO dropped the first Lanterns teaser trailer early... and I love that the Green Lantern suit is real and not CGI
Lanterns, the HBO Green Lantern show starring Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre, will premiere in August

For all of youse who know the Green Lantern oath off the top of your heads (me), it's time to lock in: the first teaser for Lanterns on HBO Max has finally dropped. And as we all expected, it's very much a buddy detective story, with less emphasis on the "buddy" part. Take a look at it below.
Lanterns stars Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre as John Stewart. And I know it's just a teaser trailer, but Chandler and Pierre nail the personas of their characters. Chandler's Hal Jordan has the same weird chip on his shoulder that comes out in the presence of John Stewart in the comics (see: Denny O'Neil and Neal Adams' Green Lantern #87 from 1971), while Pierre's performance as John Stewart has the calm, collected, and discerning mind of the character we all love.
What is interesting, though, is that the Green Lantern suit in the teaser is a real, physical garment that somebody (presumably Hal?) has hanging in his closet. That is, it's not a suit that spawns from the ring at will as it does in the comics.
Lots to look forward to.
