The Critical Role writers have discussed a Taryon Darrington spinoff. Wayne Brady would reprise the role "in a heartbeat"
Does The Legend of Vox Machina's human artificer Darrington have a future beyond the climactic season 5? Brady isn't confirming that, but he is saying he'd be down

After an emotional 12 episodes, Critical Role's The Legend of Vox Machina season 4 has wrapped. And while the next season it's setting up is perhaps it most exciting to date, it is sad to think that the upcoming chapter, season 5, will be the series last - especially since a fan-favorite character just made his debut. But there are reasons to hope for those of you out there who loved Wayne Brady's Taryon Darrington.
Some of that hope, actually, comes from Brady himself.
Brady recently sat down with GameReactor to discuss his past with TTRPGs and, toward the end of the conversation, his potential future with Critical Role beyond season 5. If Taryon were to come back, asked Brady's interviewer, would he -
"In a heartbeat," said the improv legend, before his interviewer could even finish the question.
As if Brady's energy in answering the question isn't exciting enough, we'll remind you that his answer comes on the heels of a very exciting Taryon update from behind the scenes of the Vox Machina crew. As you'll recall Popverse reporting on, series writer Francisco Angones has become such a big fan of the character that he is actively trying to work out a Taryon Darrington spinoff.
Don't misquote here, reader, we are absolutely not saying we have any special insight into a possible Legend of Vox Machina spinoff starring everyone's favorite human artificer. All we're saying is that, should Prime Video and animation studio Titmouse ever pursue that option, we know who would be the first few people they call.
With two animated series on Prime Video, Campaign 4 in full swing, and so much more Exandrian lore to come, Critical Role is showing no signs of slowing down. That's why the adventuring party at Popverse are here to bring you everything we can from those nerdy-ass voice actors & Bo., including:
- Critical Role release schedule
- Critical Role's Campaign 4 characters ranked
- How to watch Critical Role in order
- Ways for you to relive the Critical Role panel from ECCC '26
- Taliesin Jaffe on playing Mollymauk Tealeaf for Campaign 2 vs. playing him for Prime Video
- Matt Mercer's homebrew warrior class (created originally for Vin Diesel)
...and much, much more. Roll initiative, player. Magic awaits.
