Sorry, folks, Rosario Dawson's scene in Spider-Man: Brand New Day was cut. And while we've now gotten official confirmation that she was, in fact, slated to appear in the Destin Daniel Cretton film, the scene is different than the one that fans online believe she was deleted from.

No, the hospital scene at the end of Spider-Man: Brand New Day wasn't supposed to involve Rosario Dawson's Night Nurse character. Actually, Night Nurse was supposed to appear earlier on in the film, contrary to rumors that circulated before the film came out. According to a new interview from TheWrap with screenwriters Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, the scene between Night Nurse and Spidey took place after Spider-Man's fight with Scorpion, where he would have been hospitalized.

On the scene itself, Sommers said, "The scene [Rosario Dawson and Tom Holland] did was a good scene I think the only reason it’s not in the final cut was just it was probably cut for time because it was very good." This scene would have taken place right before Peter goes undercover at Empire State University to meet with Bruce Banner. There are a lot of moving parts in Brand New Day, and somehow, it all works.

Perhaps, when Spider-Man: Brand New Day is released on Blu-ray and physical media, we'll get some bonus material that includes the deleted scene between Spidey and Claire Temple? One can only hope. I would pay money to see Claire react to having to patch up another New Yorker in a red suit with extraordinary abilities. I may be biased, as a Night Nurse fan myself, but I love the idea of Claire Temple continuing to be the connective tissue that unites New York's street-level heroes like the Netflix Defenders days.
