Professional athletes shouldn't be the only ones to get the trading card treatment. What about the rest of us nerds who want to take our love for Stephen King, Octavia E. Butler, Toni Morrison, and Amy Tan to the next level? After all, trading cards do make excellent bookmarks (I personally use the Magic: The Gathering card Blacksmith's Skill as a bookmark).
This is where the publishing house, McSweeney's, comes in to save the day. The company has created unique baseball card-like cards representing writers nearest and dearest to our hearts. The publisher writes, "Each pack includes fifteen cards printed on high-quality paper, each featuring bios, trivia, little-known publishing stats, original illustrated portraits, and huge fun. (No chewing gum included.)"
Ordering a full set from the publisher will give you 3 different packs of 15 cards, from the 3 different sets of author cards that McSweeney's has created: the standard Author Pack, the Sci-Fi Author Pack, and the Horror Author Pack. The full card bundle is available for $20 right now at McSweeney's online store.

On the back of each card is the author's "career stats," a list of the books that they have written, along with their page counts. We can imagine that the one for Stephen King is rather formidable. So, if you've been in the market for a whole batch of new bookmarks, you're in luck.
