Scrooge McDuck was created by legendary cartoonist Carl Barks as a homage to Ebenezer Scrooge from Charles Dickens' iconic 1843 holiday novella A Christmas Carol, and broke through to the mainstream with a Disney-fied version of that story in 1983's Mickey's Christmas Carol. Now, Uncle Scrooge is doing it one more time.... Marvel style.

Marvel Comics has recruited Louise 'Weezie' Simonson (X-Factor, New Mutants, Superman, Power Pack) to orchestrate a revisitation to the ghosts of the past, present, and future, with artists to include Fabio Celoni, Francesco D’Ippolito, Paolo Mottura and Marco Mazzarello.

"A holiday adventure across past, present, and future!" reads Marvel's description of the one-shot. "Scrooge chooses gold over Christmas and ends up spending the holiday all alone! Three magical adventures force him to revisit the treasures that truly matter! Will Scrooge learn that family is worth more than all the gold in his Money Bin? Guest-starring Donald Duck, Huey, Dewey, Louie, Ludwig Von Drake, Gyro Gearloose and more!"

Simonson describes herself as a dedicated fan of Carl Barks' comics, saying she grew up with 'the Ducks' books as the main comic she had growing up (Sorry, Marvel!)

“Uncle Scrooge, Donald and the kids were the heroes in some of my favorite stories when I was a kid—in fact, the Duck books were the only comics I ever had a subscription to," Simonson says in a statement. "I loved their humor, their conflicts, and their quirky personalities and writing my own Uncle Scrooge: A Christmas Carol was a dream come true.”

Carl Barks' ducks are a big thing in the Simonson household. Louise's husband Walt homaged Carl Barks in his Thor storyline where he turned the god of thunder into a frog of thunder. It's no wonder that Walt cashed in his favors with his wife Weezie, and is drawing the primary cover to the new Uncle Scrooge: A Christmas Carol.

Uncle Scrooge: A Christmas Carol #1 goes on sale November 18. Just in time to buy one and read it, then buy a second (or a third) to gift to a friend.
