Marvel is planning something for Captain Britain's 50th anniversary this year

It's been half a century since Brian Braddock first stepped into the role of Captain America's Transatlantic counterpart. And according to Marvel's Tom Brevoort, the House of Ideas is planing something special to celebrate

Happy almost birthday, Captain Britain! The legacy character, whose role has been filled by both OG Brian Braddock and (more popular) sister Betsy at various times, is turning the big 5-0, and Marvel Comics isn't forgetting about that. According to their longest serving editor, the company has something in the works to celebrate their favorite Brit's big day.

That editor would be Tom Brevoort, current captain of the X-Men titles and fan of the Braddock pair. Recently, Brevoort sat down with Adventures in Poor Taste for an interview covering all things Marvel Comics, and at one point, was asked about the future of Betsy  - the second (and current) hero to bear the name.

"Betsy turns 50 along with Captain Britain," Brevoort said, "So we’ll definitely be doing something for Captain Britain’s 50th, and Betsy will definitely be a part of that. Beyond that, it’s kind of wait and see."

Well we're very excited to see what that will look like, Tom, especially as big fans of the Captain's favorite group of mutant teammates, Excalibur. While you're at it, maybe you can invite Brian's other alias - Spider-UK - to the party? I don't know about you, but I got my hands on that Insomniac Spider-Man skin just as soon as I was able.
