Warning: spoilers for Captain America #11 are ahead. 

With each day, we inch closer to the Marvel Comics event of the summer, Avengers: Armageddon. Spearheaded by writer Chip Zdarsky, with art by Frank Alpizar, and Delio Diaz, Avengers: Armageddon will spin out of the events of Zdarsky, Alpizar, and Valerio Schiti's ongoing Captain America series. But, curiously, Steve Rogers' Captain America has been missing from the promotional artwork for Armageddon. Instead, Sam Wilson bears the shield on the cover of Avengers: Armageddon #1. 

But now, we know why Steve Rogers isn't a part of Avengers: Armageddon (at least, in its marketing materials). Zdarsky and Schiti's Captain America #11 ends with Steve's physical body seemingly dead after a building fell onto him, impaling his body with rebar. But fret not, because Steve's spirit wakes up in Hell, of all places. 

This isn't the end of the road for Steve Rogers; it's the beginning of a new battle. The solicit for July's Captain America #13 states as such: "VICTOR VON DOOM has captured the soul of Captain America, dragging him to an unfamiliar battlefield to use him as an unwilling weapon. As Steve Rogers struggles to survive in a world he doesn't understand, the world he left behind needs him more than ever. And ARMAGEDDON draws ever closer..."

Will Steve Rogers escape Hell in time to make it to the events of Armageddon? We'll have to wait and see.
