DC's mega-hit Absolute Batman is changing after #25, as the series switches from developing everything to "letting these pieces really clash and interact and grow" says Scott Snyder
Scott Snyder says the road to Absolute Batman #50 won’t give you any time to catch your breath

If Absolute Batman has been blowing you away, buckle up, because the writer behind the book says things are only going to get more intense from here. In the past two years we’ve seen an eerie take on the Joker, the Robins as Batman’s enemies, and some intense scenes involving Bane. I could go on for paragraphs, because every issue of Absolute Batman seems like it’s designed to test limits and shock readers.
According to Absolute Batman writer Scott Snyder, the momentum is only going to build from here. The writer is looking ahead at the road to Absolute Batman #50, and he promises that we aren’t prepared for what’s to come.
“We go for a real density. [Nick Dragotta] and I have always loved really dense comics,” Scott Snyder says during an appearance on AIPT Comics Podcast. “We’re both really big manga fans, and that has this real kinetic driving storytelling where there’s nothing but red meat.”
“It’s the most emotional moments, the biggest bombastic stuff, and once in a while you get a little subtlety. But for the most part it’s dialed up to 11. And that’s just the stuff I’ve always loved. I loved writing K.O. and Metal and all those things too. So, for me, this series brings all that together. It’s definitely not taking its foot off the gas through [issue 50]. Every arc is going to be pretty punishing in that way.”
“The story that we pitched, and you see is the story that lands over about 50 things, but we’re already thinking about what would be on the other side of that. So, the second half of this 50 issue stretch is really about now letting these pieces really clash and interact and grow.”
Absolute Batman #50 will probably hit stores in late 2028, depending on the publishing schedule. Based on what we’ve seen so far, I can only imagine what Scott Snyder and Nick Dragotta have in store.
Here's an update to date guide on the Absolute Batman release schedule.
