DC's Absolute Batman is teaming up with classic Batman in 2027 special by Scott Snyder, Matt Fraction, and others

Together with Absolute Batman scribe Scott Snyder, Batman writer Matt Fraction will craft a story showing off the two Dark Knights’ approaches to crimefighting.

Free Comic Book Day (and Comics Giveaway Day) may have just passed this weekend, but DC Comics is already planning for The Dark Knight to take center stage on the first Saturday of May 2027. Batman scribe Matt Fraction recently dished on what presumably are DC’s plans for next year’s Free Comic Book Day, which will feature a story for both the mainline universe’s Batman and his Absolute counterpart.

“Me and [Absolute Batman writer] Scott [Snyder], we talked about the Batman stuff for Free Comic Book Day, we’re gonna do a thing where I’m writing a thing, and he’s writing a thing, and it’s kind of the same hook done two different ways. We’ll see how Absolute [Batman] solves it and Batman solves it,” Fraction said on the Direct Edition podcast

Considering that Absolute Batman is significantly younger and bigger than the main DC Universe’s Batman, it will be interesting to see how he tackles whatever problem that Fraction and Snyder throw at him. We can only hope that Absolute Bats will take out his massive battle-axe. Because to be perfectly honest with you, if I had an axehead that popped out of my own superhero suit, I absolutely would be taking every possible opportunity to use it.

Anyways, Free Comic Book Day/Comics Giveaway Day 2027 will take place on May 1, 2027.

Here's an update to date guide on the Absolute Batman release schedule.
