The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2 recap: What to remember before Season 3 of the AMC series begins
The spinoff follows the exploits of Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) as they try to survive a zombie-infested Manhattan

The Walking Dead may be over, but the story that began in the hit AMC series continues across several spinoffs, including The Walking Dead: Dead City. Following the further exploits of Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), the series will be returning for Season 3 on AMC on July 26th, 2026.
What is The Walking Dead: Dead City?
The Walking Dead: Dead City begins with Maggie forming an uneasy alliance with Negan, the man who killed her husband Glenn Rhee on the original series The Walking Dead. What would bring the two together? Family, it turns out - Maggie is working with Negan in order to rescue her teenage son, Hershel Rhee (Logan Kim). Hershel had been kidnapped by Mile Jurkovic, AKA "The Croat" (Željko Ivanek), a member of the Burazi, a group of survivors who have taken over Manhattan, the 'Dead City' of the show's title. In return for Negan's assistance, Maggie agrees to give Ginny (Mahina Napoleon), a young girl under Negan's care, a home at The Bricks.
What happened at the end of The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2?
At the conclusion of Dead City Season 2, Maggie and Negan were once again at odds with one another, with Negan having taken control of the Burazi. After Negan kills Bruegel (Kim Coates), the leader of another Manhattan gang, Maggie prepares to kill Negan so as to save Perlie Armstrong (Gaius Charles), a New Babylon Federation marshal. However, the discovery that Ginny has died and resurrected as a zombie forestalls the showdown. Ultimately Negan, Maggie and Perlie determine that their best chance of survival is working together.
Is there a The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 3 trailer?
Start spreading the news - there is indeed a trailer for the third season of Dead City, showing that Negan and Maggie's tentative partnership is going to be facing new threats across the new eight-episode season.
Season 3 of The Walking Dead: Dead City will debut on AMC on July 26th, 2026.
