Ted Lasso season 4 plot: What is it about?
According to a press release from Apple TV, the plot of Ted Lasso season 4 is as follows: "In season four, Ted returns to Richmond, taking on his biggest challenge yet: coaching a second division women’s football team. Throughout the course of the season, Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would."
Ted Lasso season 4: the release schedule
Apple TV has announced that Ted Lasso will release weekly - and, unusually for an Apple TV series, debut with just one episode. (Apple TV series traditionally launch with two or three episodes.) That means that Ted Lasso will run weekly from August 5 through October 7, 2026.
Ted Lasso season 4: the cast
Yes, Roy Kent will be in Ted Lasso season 4. Early in the season's development, Apple TV announced that actor Brett Goldstein will be reprising his role as Roy in this upcoming season. He's one of a number of returning actors in the season, alongside Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brendan Hunt and Jeremy Swift. New cast members include Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern and Grant Feely.
Why is Jamie Tartt not in season 4?
Sadly, Jamie Tartt will not be in Ted Lasso season 4. I hate to be the bearer of bad news. Deadline noted that Jamie Tartt actor Phil Dunster's absence from season 4 is due to scheduling conflicts from Dunster taking a "series regular role on a new HBO comedy." That HBO comedy is Rooster, which happens to also be from Ted Lasso executive producer Bill Lawrence. (Tartt plays Archie, the estranged son-in-law of Steve Carrell's lead character.) Deadline did share, however, that Dunster could "potentially reprise his role in some limited capacity" in the future.
Why did they recast Ted Lasso's son?
An official reason for recasting Ted Lasso's son has not been given. But it's worth noting that Henry is supposed to be 12 years old, and actor Gus Turner played Henry in seasons 1 through 3, a span of time from 2020 to 2023. Based on Turner's current headshot on IMDb, he looks older than he did in previous seasons of Ted Lasso. Turner has been replaced by Grant Feely, who told the Birmingham Parent that he "had to practice a lot of soccer" for the role.
Ted Lasso season 4: the trailer
There is a teaser trailer, which - as such things do - only offers a brief hint at what fans should expect. Amongst those things: the casual sexism of the Richmond FC fandom, as one casually sums up the high concept of the season by telling Ted, "Welcome back, Coach. Too bad you’re coaching a bunch of girls."
Where can I watch season 4 of Ted Lasso?
You can watch Ted Lasso season 4 on Apple TV, starting August 5, 2026.
