Crystal Lake Season 1 release date: When the Friday the 13th prequel will debut on Peacock

All eight episodes of the prequel's first season will be available to stream simultaneously

Crystal Lake, a new series from A24, will give horror fans a chance to see what happened before Jason Voorhees became the hockey mask-wearing, chainsaw-wielding, sometimes spacefaring horror super villain we all know and love. In fact, the release date for the prequel to the Friday the 13th film franchise will be debuting before you know it. So when can you expect to enjoy Crystal Lake Season 1 on Peacock?

Crystal Lake stars Linda Cardellini as Pam Voorhees, a woman who is still in mourning after the death of her son Jason a year earlier. (Spoilers for the 1980 Friday the 13th movie, technically?) But soon two strangers arrive at her door, leading to a shocking chain of events that will leave the town reeling. Callum Vinson plays the role of young Jason. The cast also includes William Catlett as Levon Brooks, Devin Kessler as Briana Brooks, Cameron Scoggins as Dorf and Gwendolyn Sundstrom as Grace.

The Crystal Lake Season 1 release date is October 15th, 2026 on Peacock. All eight hour-long episodes of the season will be available to stream on that date. It has been more than a decade and a half since the most previous most recent Friday the 13th movie debuted in February 2009, which was the 11th movie in the franchise. (The 12th, if you include 2003's Freddy vs. Jason crossover with the A Nightmare on Elm Street movies.) Crystal Lake isn't even technically the first Friday the 13th TV series; there was a syndicated Friday the 13th show that ran for three seasons from 1987 through 1990, although that show had no actual connections to Jason or anything from the movies aside from the name.
