As the saying goes, TFI Friday — as long as we all agree that the “F” in this case stands for “Fine Pop Culture Products that you should immediately add to your calendar across the next seven days.” It’s time for another Popverse Playlist, our weekly guide to the three things you should add to your next seven days in order to make your life just that little bit better.

This week: Love is difficult, whether it’s supernaturally-enhanced romance or familial love complicated by demons. But is any love as pure as that of a master strategist trapped in jail and knowing that she’ll have to use all tools at her disposal to stay safe and think her way out? I think not!

If you only watch one show this week, then it really has to be… Devil May Cry Season 2

Sure, we all love HUNTR/X, but there’s another Netflix demon hunter that fans have been impatiently waiting for a return since before any of us knew what a Saja Boy even was — and, as of May 12, Dante returns to continue the fight against… well, seemingly everything: the White Rabbit, DARKCOM and even his own twin brother. The first season of the video game adaptation was a massive hit in early 2025, and now it’s back for a second go-around that Netflix promises will focus on Dante’s relationship with Vergil. “In Devil May Cry Season 2, Dante must confront his own devils and the feeling of family he lost as a child,” the official description of the season runs, asking, “With the reemergence of Vergil, will Dante lay to rest old demons or fall victim to them?”

All episodes of Devil May Cry Season 2 will be available on Netflix May 12.

If you check out one movie this week, then it should be… Obsession

Filmmaker Curry Barker is having a moment, with the announcement of his upcoming Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie getting a lot of people interested in what he has to say about horror in general. Thankfully, he has a new movie in theaters that will meet that need — Obsession is a classic monkey’s paw story: Boy meets girl, boy uses supernatural means to get girl to fall in love with him, boy underestimates what that actually means, things get very bloody and scary as a result. Who amongst us hasn’t been there, or somewhere similar? The trailer ratchets up the chills in such a way that we’re very excited to see the full movie… even if we doubt that this particular love story is going to have a particularly happy ending.

Obsession is in theaters May 15.

If you can only pick up one comic this week, then make sure it’s… Barbara Gordon: Breakout #1

Those who picked up Batman #9 this week know that it ended up with a pretty big cliffhanger: Barbara Gordon, arrested as part of the ‘Batman Crime Family’ after a massive city-wide operation by the Gotham City Police Department headed up by Vandal Savage. That story will continue in the pages of the regular Batman monthly comic, of course, but also in the new series Barbara Gordon: Breakout by Mariko Tamaki and Amancay Nahuelpan that — based on the first issue, which we’ve been lucky enough to read in advance — will convince you that the former Batgirl and Oracle might be at her most dangerous (and therefore, some of her most interesting to read about) behind bars. (And, for those of you wondering: nope, there’s no breakout being planned in that first issue. Expect the title to be a slow build across the run of the book.)

Barbara Gordon: Breakout #1 will be available in comic book stores and digitally May 13.
