MCU Vision actor Paul Bettany surprises everyone to unveil Marvel x MTG set, including The Mind Stone (and don't forget the 'The'!)

There is already a Magic: The Gathering card simply called “Mind Stone”

Don’t lose your minds, because The Mind Stone is coming to Magic: The Gathering.

At MagicCon Las Vegas 2026, the man behind Vision himself, Paul Bettany, came out as the first looks of The Mind Stone card from the upcoming Magic: The Gathering x Marvel Super Heroes were unveiled. Bettany even had the chance to place a physical Mind Stone within an Infinity Stone-less Infinity Gauntlet (a lot of infinities happening here). In case you need a refresher, Bettany’s character, Vision, from the Avengers movies had the Mind Stone implanted into his forehead. In Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos cruelly tore the stone out of Vision’s head, leaving the synthezoid nothing but a hollow, colorless husk. Ouch.

But now’s not the time for mourning. The set’s lead, Mark Rosewater, was quick to note that there was an existing Magic card simply titled “Mind Stone.” So to avoid doubling up, the Infinity Stone card was titled “The Mind Stone.”

So why was Paul Bettany there? At the Preview Panel, Wizards of the Coast revealed some of the cards featuring Vision in the Marvel Super Heroes set, ahead of its June 26 release. So who knows, maybe one of these days you’ll see Bettany floating around at one of the tables at MagicCon, deck in tow.
