Hey Post Malone (and everyone else), there's a new One Ring in the second MTG x Lord of the Rings set... and it's precious
The My Precious card from Magic: The Gathering x The Hobbit enshrines Gollum’s obsession with the One Ring

Gollum’s eerie refrain of “my precious” is one of the most famous lines in fantasy history. Andy Serkis’s reading of it in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings films immortalized it within the minds of children and adults everywhere. If you had crossed my path in 2002, you’d have seen me crawling around on the floor with a rubber swim cap on my head, whispering, “My precious” with glottal precision.
And soon, you’ll be able to do the same with the upcoming Magic: The Gathering x The Hobbit Universes Beyond set that features a card aptly titled, 'My Precious.' If you remember back to the Tales from Middle-earth Magic: The Gathering set from 2023, the headliner card of the set was a special foil variant of The One Ring card that Wizards of the Coast printed exactly one copy of (which Post Malone later bought for $2 million). Considering that this Hobbit set is also a Lord of the Rings set, the creative team behind The Hobbit wanted to make sure that there was more of the Ring to go around this time.

At MagicCon 2026, The Hobbit set lead Annie Sardelis explained that they returned to the One Ring with this set, except this time, it was “expressed as owned by Gollum, as his precious.” And while the Ring certainly has its dangers, in The Hobbit set, it’s more of a tool to “help you be sneaky” and “turn invisible,” Sardelis said.
So when does this set come out? Prerelease for The Hobbit begins August 7, and the official launch day is August 14.
