Zoe Thorogood, the writer-artist behind It's Lonely at the Centre of the Earth, has announced a new collaboration between her and musician Harley Poe called Vampire on Aisle 6. The project will be a graphic novel and EP, which is pretty exciting!

At C2E2 2026, we chatted with Zoe Thorogood about her work, both past and present, and she opened up about how she came to collaborate with her partner, Joe Whiteford, on Vampire on Aisle 6.

"It's a story that my partner, Joe, had in mind years ago. He's been talking about it for years, this idea he's had about this vampire who's trapped in a grocery store, he can't get out because the sun's up, and he's just stuck there til the sun sets," Thorogood said.

"He didn't have an ending, there was no further- there was nothing, that was it. It was just bare bones, but it was such an interesting concept that stuck with me. And the past few years we've been talking, 'Hey, we should do a project together. We should do a comic and an album together,' but it's never quite aligned. And yeah, sometime last year, it was just like, 'Let's just do your vampire story. I'll write it, I'll turn it into whatever I'm gonna turn it into, and we'll just make some music to go along with it.'"

Thus far, Thorogood has been giving us glimpses of Vampire on Aisle 6 on her Instagram as she draws the pages, and I'm incredibly invested in this poor vampire being stuck in a nightmare scenario for me (a room with terrible acoustics and monstrously bright fluorescent lighting). Likewise, Joe Whiteford has posted a video of himself and Thorogood performing a song from the Vampire on Aisle 6 EP on his Instagram
