As a lifelong fan of anthology horror comics, I can't remember having more fun with a modern take on the genre that with Michael Walsh's The Silver Coin. Hopping around between different types of horror and different historical periods, each issue of the Image Comic frightfest is linked by its titular cursed object, the holder of which usually meets some type of grisly end by the comic's final page. And if that sounds like a blast to you (or if you were buying the issues like I was), I have great news:
More Silver Coin is on the way, and we even know what type of horror one of the issues will focus on.
That's because at C2E2 2026, I had the wonderful privilege of chatting with Walsh himself. And though we had plenty of comic book goodness to cover, I wasted no time in asking what I was probably most curious about: are you working on any more Silver Coin at the moment?
"I am," confirmed the Exquisite Corpses artist, "I have been slowly working up the next arc of Silver Coin, the next volume, with five incredible writers. Which I can't spoil, although one of them is myself, as usual, because I write every fifth issue. [...] I've got two issues drawn, and I've got all five scripts for the fourth volume. We're going to be jumping around in time and doing some things in a bit more of an experimental way, in terms of the art and writing and structure."
"In the new arc," he continued, "I have never drawn a space horror. Alien is one of my favorite movies. [...] I want to be drawing the things that I'm really excited about in the moment. Sometimes that's telling a cowboy story; sometimes that's telling a story about witches in the 1700s. Sometimes that's jumping ahead to the year 4000 and and showing what humanity in space looks like when they still have the coin."
As of this writing, no release date for the next volume of The Silver Coin has been announced by Image Comics. But as you wait for more news (and trust that we're doing the same), you can watch Popverse's interview with Michael Walsh from C2E2 2026 right here.
