It's high tide for Invincible fans. Even though the original Image Comics series from Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley wrapped up in 2017, the success of the Prime Video show has brought thousands of more readers to the original comics. So it's never been a better time for the villain, Battle Beast, to have his story explored in depth for the first time in his own comic book series from Kirkman, Ottley, and Annalisa Leoni.

So, when does Invincible Universe: Battle Beast #9 come out? On May 20, 2026.
Thus far, Battle Beast has, you guessed it, been battling his way through the Invincible Universe. In Battle Beast #8, he went up against both Colossus and Juggernaut, and there's a fight between Battle Beast and Conquest teased in the upcoming Battle Beast #10. So if you've been craving a good ol' fashioned beatdown, the Battle Beast series has got your back. So what's on deck for Battle Beast in issue #9?

Right now, there is only one trade paperback for Invincible Universe: Battle Beast, but given that the volume 1 trade paperback collects only Battle Beast #1-6 and the series has many more issues beyond #6, a second volume is likely in the works.
How many issues of Invincible Battle Beast are there?
Thus far, there are 11 issues of Battle Beast that have either come out or are set to come out. A new story arc began with issue #7, so it looks like it's an ongoing series.
What is the plot of Invincible Universe: Battle Beast?
A press release from Image Comics about the series reads, "Even in a universe of mighty Viltrumites like Invincible and Omni-Man, it seems that no one may be able to stop the galaxy’s deadliest warrior...unless he does the unthinkable."
For the second arc of the series, things aren't shaking up too much: "A new story arc begins as Battle Beast continues his quest to find the one being who can defeat him in battle and end his life." Artist Ryan Ottley hinted at an appearance of Conquest, which is coming up later in this particular arc.

Battle Beast was killed by Thragg in both the Invincible show and comic book series.
