Batman release schedule: When Batman #9 comes out, and what's next
Here is everything you need to know about the release schedule of DC Comics' Batman series from Matt Fraction and Jorge Jiménez.

Every generation has a Batman actor, and every generation a Batman storyline. In 2025, DC broke the mold and went bold with the relaunch of the flagship Batman title for only the fourth time in more than 85 years. Matt Fraction (Hawkeye) and the definitive modern Batman artist, Jorge Jiménez, have teamed up for this exciting new era of Batman.

"I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for Batman. It was the first comic I ever read," Fraction said in a statement released by DC Comics about Batman #1. "Jorge and I have a very superhero-forward kind of take on Batman. We’ve got a new Batmobile, we’ve got a new costume, we’ve got new characters, and we’ve got a lot of old ones too — good and bad; all the stuff that makes Batman the coolest character in comics. We want to celebrate it all."
Teaming up with colorist Tomeu Morey and letterer Clayton Cowles, Fraction and Jiménez are beginning it all by looking at Gotham City from a new perspective.
"For this new chapter, we’re crafting a revamped aesthetic, bringing back Batman’s blue suit in a definitive way," said Jiménez. "It’s a small shift meant to feel both classic and fresh, subtly evolving while staying true to the original design we’ve used in recent years. At the same time, I’m working on Gotham City’s visual identity, giving it a fresh approach that sets it apart from my previous takes. I’m aiming for a slight pop influence, something that subtly nods to classic stories while keeping the dark and ominous feel of contemporary Batman."

Are there collected editions of Matt Fraction and Jorge Jiménez's Batman?
Yes! There are trade paperback editions of Matt Fraction and Jorge Jiménez's Batman. Here is the release schedule for the trades:
What about the previous volume of Batman?
Fraction and Jiménez's Batman will be starting as the previous major Batman volume is still underway, as Jim Lee and Jeph Loeb's current 'H2SH' storyline in Batman volume 3 has been delayed to finish up this fall. It's not as complicated as you think, though - just buy Batman #1, enjoy Batman #1. You can do the same for the other run, even if it is released after.
Why is September 21 Batman Day?
Hey, not so fast - Batman Day isn't always September 21; it's like Easter, in that it moves around a bit.
Batman Day is an annual celebration of all things Dark Knight organized by DC Comics and Warner BRos. over the years. It usually takes place on the third or fourth Saturday in September, and was instigated in 2014 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the character. Over the years, it's become a celebration of the character in comic stores and other places, with Warner BRos and DC scheduling the release of special comic books, cartoons, merchandise, and other festivities.
As of yet, Hallmark has not created a card for Batman Day... but there's still time.
Who is writing Batman in 2026?

This new volume of Batman is written by Matt Fraction, known best for his work on Marvel Comics' Hawkeye, which inspired the Disney+ live-action series, as well as the trend for a more stripped-down tone in some solo superhero stories, as later seen in both Marvel's The Vision and DC's Mister Miracle series. Fraction is a former comic store clerk and even comics journalist before becoming a major comics writer; however, in the past few years, he's been focusing on TV work with Apple TV+'s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.
Batman is the most well-known superhero in the world — surprisingly, given how much he loves hanging out in the dark. But between his comics, TV shows, movies, games, and more, DC's Dark Knight is the hero this city/country/world/universe needs, and we have all you need to enjoy him even more:
