The Amazing Race Season 39: Release date, schedule, Hacks crossover, and everything we know

The popular, long-running reality series is hosted by Phil Keoghan

The Amazing Race Season 38 ended on December 10th, 2025, leaving fans impatient for more globetrotting reality TV excitement - and, no, the surprise Hacks crossover episode didn't count. (Well, kind of.) We can now confirm that the reality competition series will be coming back again, as CBS has already renewed The Amazing Race for Season 39, and it's just months away.

For those unfamiliar with the show, The Amazing Race is a competition reality series that pits teams of two against each another in a globetrotting race to the finish line, competing in tasks and solving puzzles in order to advance to the next leg of the competition. Since its debut in 2001, The Amazing Race has been hosted by Phil Keoghan. The thirty-eighth season saw Jas and Jag Bains taking home the top prize of one million dollars. Filming for Season 38 was completed between September 22nd, 2025 and October 17th, 2026, beginning in Vancouver and visiting locales such as Spain and New Zealand before concluding in Honolulu.

The Amazing Race Season 39 will debut in the fall of 2026, and has been paired with Survivor Season 51 for Wednesday nights; both shows will air 90-minute episodes across a three-hour block of primetime programming, with The Amazing Race airing at 9:30pm Eastern and Pacific, and 8:30pm Central. Although CBS has yet to officially announce a premiere date, based on the network's history, fans should expect to see the beginning of The Amazing Race Season 39 in October 2026.

Oh, and in case you thought the Hacks crossover episode was a gag:

For those who don't watch Hacks, it's Season 5, episode 5, and it's available on HBO Max now.
