Is Critical Role taking a break after Campaign 4, episode 31? Yes and no
Go to any Critical Role Campaign 4 forum and you'll see an upcoming change in what's been a pretty regular release schedule. We're here to explain that

Popverse's top stories
- The Batman writer pitched a wild Rocketeer sequel to Disney but it didn't fly
- Star Wars, Superman, Scream stars and more headline the first wave of NYCC 2026 guest announcements
- What's next for The Amazing Digital Circus cast after the episode 9 finale? A Dungeons & Dragons one-shot with Caine as the DM
I don't know if this is your jam, but as soon as I finish an episode of Critical Role campaign 4, I check to see when the next adventure is going to air. Usually, that's just me being extra - the massively popular TTRPG actual play series has been streaming pretty regularly ever since October of last year. However, as you know if you've been following Popverse's Critical Role Campaign 4 release schedule guide, that regularity is about to be upended.
And now, we're here to explain that.
Is Critical Role on hiatus?
As you can see via Critical Role's official events calendar, the 31st episode of Critical Role Campaign 4 is the last officially listed episode as of June 23. So what does this mean? Basically, it means that, unless that schedule is updated between now and that episode's release date, there are no Campaign 4 episodes lined up to stream after June 25. But does that mean that there's no Critical Role actual play scheduled after that date?
Not at all.
What is the Age of Umbra: Sallowlands campaign?
Just two weeks after Critical Role Campaign 4, episode 31 airs on the group's channels, Critical Role will switch focus to a different, and admittedly smaller, campaign set within the space of their own TTRPG, Daggerheart. As you might recall, Popverse already reporting on, that new miniseries is Age of Umbra: Sallowlands, which unites OG Rolers Matt Mercer and Laura Bailey with (semi) newcomers Abubakar Salim, Jennifer English, and Zachery Renauldo for a grimdark follow-up to last year's Age of Umbra.
Let's be very clear here - Age of Umbra is absolutely not a part of Critical Role Campaign 4. Its setting - designed by Matt Mercer himself - is completely separate from both Campaign 4's Aramán and the more traditional Critical Role setting of Exandria. So if the question you have coming into next week is: 'Is Critical Role Campaign 4 on hiatus?,' the answer is a simple 'Yes' (and maybe a message of sympathy from a fellow Critter). But if your question is, 'Will I get no more Critical Role after Campaign 4, episode 31?'
Well, the answer is a lot more positive.
Critical Role Campaign 4 is streaming now on the group's Beacon, YouTube, and Twitch channels. Age of Umbra: Sallowlands debuts on Critical Role's Beacon, Twitch, and YouTube channels July 9.
With two animated series on Prime Video, Campaign 4 in full swing, and so much more Exandrian lore to come, Critical Role is showing no signs of slowing down. That's why the adventuring party at Popverse are here to bring you everything we can from those nerdy-ass voice actors & Bo., including:
- Critical Role release schedule
- Critical Role's Campaign 4 characters ranked
- How to watch Critical Role in order
- Ways for you to relive the Critical Role panel from ECCC '26
- Taliesin Jaffe on playing Mollymauk Tealeaf for Campaign 2 vs. playing him for Prime Video
- Matt Mercer's homebrew warrior class (created originally for Vin Diesel)
...and much, much more. Roll initiative, player. Magic awaits.
