The Amazing Spider-Man 2 actor (just kidding, The Holdovers actor) will reprise his role as Harold Levinson

Tell your friends who are into 20th Century period dramas and the 2002 teen comedy Big Fat Liar - Paul Giamatti is heading back to the world of Downton Abbey. Also, tell those friends they are fascinating.

The casting news comes from The Hollywood Reporter, who confirmed not just that Giamatti is coming back to the Downton Abbey world, but that the Downton Abbey world was coming back to cinemas, the third time the British TV drama will make the jump to the big screen.

Joining Giamatti in the return are series regulars and uptown-girls-looking-for-a-Downton-man Michelle Dockery, Elizabeth McGovern, and Laura Carmichael, who play Lady Mary, Cora Grantham, and Lady Edith respectively. Rounding out this trip back to Abbey road are Dominic West (Guy Dexter), Hugh Bonneville (Robert Grantham), and Allen Leech (Tom Branson).

Joely Richardson, Alessandro Nivola, Simon Russell Beale, and Arty Froushan are also slated to be in the film, but as newcomers, with no word yet on what roles they'll play.

Also undiscolsed is when fans can expect to see Giamatti & Co. on screen in their beloved English residence. It's already been two years since the most recent film, Downton Abbey: A New Era, so let's hope fans will get their fix soon.

Until then, the entirety of Downton Abbey (sans Paul Giamatti, unfortunately) is streaming now on Netflix.

Downton Abbey made Popverse's list of ten shows to watch once you've finished Netflix's The Crown. Why not check out the other nine?
