Star Wars fans are right - that's Embo in The Mandalorian & Grogu trailer
Personally, I'm here for Baby Greedo or Jacked Jabba. But I suppose if you're a Star Wars: The Clone Wars fan, it was cool to see your favorite niche bounty hunter in The Mandalorian and Grogu trailer

Star Wars is back, baby, and it's riding on the coattails of out two favorite modern scifi stars: Pedro Pascal and a small green alien puppet. Ahead of this summer's release, Lucasfilm has unveiled a brand new trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu, and we gotta tell you - there's a ton of fun to be had. There's a baby Greedo, a Hutt with abs (watch out fanfic sites), and just an incredible amount of characters done in real puppetry rather than in animation.
But the thing that most hardcore fans are going to be talking about - at least, in our opinion - shows up at about the 1:03 mark in the trailer. In just a moment, we'll talk about a lesser-known (but much beloved) bounty hunter in the Star Wars canon, but first, check out the trailer for yourself.
Who is Embo in Star Wars?
Debuting in the animated sensation Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which some fans argue gave birth to the best stories in the franchise, Embo is a bounty hunter in the same vein as favorites Boba Fett or Cad Bane. His reptilian appearance is a product of his species, the Kyuzo, and the large circular hat he wears is both fashion and function - on several occasions, the character has used it as a shield. Also - and this is just speculation, reader - I can't help but wonder if the franchise that owes so much to Japanese culture didn't
All that said, though, Embo's appearance is just the next step in the Star Wars trend toward adapting their popular animated characters into a live-action medium. That was, after all, the whole thing with Disney+'s Ahsoka (who debuted, remember, in the same series as Embo), and can be seen in even more well-known characters in the trailer above.
Don't tell me you didn't recognize Zeb.
To what extent Embo plays a part in The Mandalorian & Grogu, we'll just have to see, just like we'll have to wait and find out if the film's director, Dave Filoni, does the voice of the character as he did in Clone Wars. And don't think, Star Wars fan, that I didn't notice the suspicious lack of Embo's pet anooba, Marrok, in this trailer. Maybe Marrok is off raising puppies during this plot. Those would be some fun puppets to see.
The Mandalorian and Grogu comes to theaters May 22.
