David Dastmalchian is one of your favorite director's favorite actors. He has appeared in everything from Oppenheimer to the Ant-Man trilogy, and is a frequent face in the films of James Gunn, Denis Villeneuve, and Christopher Nolan. He recently starred in the arresting horror film Late Night with the Devil, and will be appearing in Netflix's One Piece, Apple TV+'s Murderbot, and Bryan Fuller's upcoming movie Dust Bunny. While all that is going on, he's also turning his voracious love for comics and of writing into a side gig as a comics writer for the likes of DC, Image, and Dark Horse.
So, yes, we have a lot to talk about with him.
Dastmalchian is the inaugural guest in our new monthly interview series titled Popversations. Every month, Popverse members will get exclusive, first access to an enticing, entrancing, and at all times fan-frenzied, conversation with some of the biggest and quirkiest stars of movies, TV, and comics. In this, our first episode, Popverse video producer Ashley V. Robinson has a lively conversation with David Dastmalchian from his home office, where they dig into his movie career, his comics passions, and his secret origin - all while referencing and referring to comics from his voluminous comic boxes behind him.
