Still waiting for our next journey to the Hollow Earth.

The MonsterVerse franchise might have started with 2014’s Godzilla reboot, but its past was explored in the Monarch: Legacy of Monsters series that aired on Apple TV+ in late 2023. The first season left everyone in a bit of a jumble and kept the door open to future episodes. Will we eventually get a Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season two? Here is everything we know so far.

It took a while, but we finally have confirmation that Monarch: Legacy of Monsters will return for a second season. The announcement came after months of speculation about if the show would return.

Not only will AppleTV+ bring Monarch: Legacy of Monsters back for a second season, but they've also struck a deal with Legendary Entertainment to develop multiple spin-off shows based in the studio's ever-growing MonsterVerse. No details about when Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season two will arrive or any plot details about the potential spin-offs have been given

It may have been the success of Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire at the box office that spurred the streamer to take a chance on more episodes of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. The special effects-heavy show isn't cheap to make so they need to be sure that the public hasn't grown tired of giant monster fights. As unlikely as that sounds.

Fans shouldn't get too excited about the renewal, though. Even with Apple ordering another season and seemingly willing to invest heavily in developing more MonsterVerse shows, we wouldn't expect Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season two to air until late 2025 at the earliest. That is a long time to wait for a kaiju fight, but we’re sure it will be worth it.
