Everything we know about Horimiya Piece: Expected release date and more
It's not quite season 2, but it's still more Horimiya.
Popular romance anime Horimiya is making a return in 2023. While it's not the season 2 run fans had been hoping for, Horimiya: The Missing Pieces will delve into some of the stories the original anime wasn't able to adapt.
The new show from CloverWorks is one of the most hotly anticipated animes launching during the Summer 2023 season. And if you can't wait to jump back into the world of Horimiya, we've rounded up everything you need to know about Horimiya: The Missing Pieces to help you prepare for its premiere.
We've got details on the Horimiya: The Missing Pieces release date, the expected episode count and where you'll be able to watch it.
When is the Horimiya: The Missing Pieces release date?
It has been confirmed that Horimiya Piece has a July 2023 release date. Once the exact date is announced we'll update this article.
Has a Horimiya: The Missing Pieces trailer been revealed?
The first trailer for Horimiya Piece was released in April 2023. Described as a "concept" trailer, it shows scenes from various episodes.
You can watch the trailer below.
Is Horimiya: The Missing Pieces basically Horimiya season 2?
Horimiya Piece isn't Horimiya season 2 as the first season of the anime wrapped up the main story.
However, there was plenty left from the manga that wasn't adapted - and that's where Horimiya Piece comes in. It will adapt stories from the manga that didn't make the cut in the original anime.
What is the episode count for Horimiya: The Missing Pieces?
An episode count for Horimiya: The Missing Pieces hasn't been announced yet. But seeing as the original adaptation cut plenty from the manga there's scope for a lengthy run.
The original Horimiya anime was just 13 episodes long, despite the manga being over 100 chapters. With the source material being so much longer it's inevitable plenty from the manga was cut out from the anime.
So there's enough source material for Horimiya: The Missing Pieces to easily run for as long as season 1, and even enough source material for multiple series. However, that's all dependent on how much CloverWorks decides to adapt.
Where can I watch Horimiya: The Missing Pieces?
Crunchyroll has confirmed it has secured the rights to stream Horimiya: The Missing Pieces. The news was revealed at the Anime Central 2023 convention, where Crunchyroll debuted a new trailer.
If you watch to catch up on Horimiya before the new episodes drop Crunchyroll also has the first season in its library which you can watch right now. You can also watch the first three episodes of Horimiya entirely for free on Crunchyroll, but if you do this you'll have to sit through some ads. To watch Horimiya for free head to the Horimiya Crunchyroll page and choose the episodes you want to watch.
If you want to watch the rest of Horimiya, or watch the first three episodes without ads, you'll have to sign up to a Crunchyroll Premium plan. This plan is priced from $7.99 a month. Hulu, which also costs $7.99 a month, has the first season of Horimiya in its library as well.
