Marvel’s Spider-Man avoided putting Trump Tower in the game, then built Fisk Tower right next door
Fisk Tower in the Insomniac Spider-Man games is so closer to the real life location of Trump Tower in New York that it certainly doesn't feel accidental.

As you’re swinging around New York City in Marvel’s Spider-Man, part of the fun is exploring all the different real-world locations that Insomniac meticulously put into the game to make it feel like the real NYC. However, there are a few notable locations that you can’t visit as Spider-Man, such as Trump Tower. However, Fisk Tower makes a reasonable stand-in for the infamous president’s building.
Marvel’s Spider-Man came out in 2018, two years into the first Trump presidency. As a massive AAA game that was meant to highlight the power of the PS4, Insomniac probably wasn’t too keen on putting a landmark like Trump Tower in their game. Donald Trump was, even then, a very controversial figure. Simply acknowledging the President of the United States would draw unwanted and unnecessary attention to the game. So they simply took the Trump International Hotel & Tower out of the game and replaced it with a generic building.
However, fans will probably notice that Columbus Circle is, in fact, still home to a notorious felon with delusions of grandeur and a rather gaudy taste in architecture. Just across the street, less than a five-minute walk away from where Trump Tower is meant to be, stands Fisk Tower, where the game’s opening fight against the Kingpin takes place. And everything about this place feels like it was inspired by Trump’s notorious sense of “style”. The gilded features and grandiose architecture, culminating in a battle against Kingpin himself in a penthouse office that is obnoxiously big and offers intimidating views of the skyline, is a little on-the-nose.
Technically, Fisk Tower in the Insomniac Spider-Man games replaces the Deutsche Bank Center, which was known as the Time Warner Center until a few months before the first game’s release. However, its proximity to the actual Trump Tower in New York doesn’t feel like an accident. This feels like they put Fisk Tower as close to Trump Tower as they could without drawing the ire of the President himself.
