Ahead of the MCU returns of Spider-Man, the Punisher, and Hulk in July's Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie, Marvel Comics is bringing those heroes together for a comic it's calling the "grittiest Spider-Man comic story of the modern age." And to do it, Marvel's 'Krakoan Age' X-Men writer Jonathan Hickman is reuniting with his X-Men editor Jordan D. White and his former Avengers artist Adam Kubert.

Spider-Man: Long Way Home is a five-issue series by Jonathan Hickman and Adam Kubert, with the two writing it together and then Kubert illustrating it. In the series, the heroes Spider-Man, The Hulk, and Spider-Man go to South America after the villainous organization A.I.M. has created a Cosmic Cube — which MCU fans might recall as the Tesseract in Captain America: The First Avenger.
"I'm so happy to be working with Adam Kubert again and even happier that we're getting to work on Spider-Man: Long Way Home," Hickman shared in the announcement. "Absolutely no one is going to see this one coming."
For Spider-Man: Long Way Home, Marvel is making the rare move of divorcing this from its nearly 100 years of continuity — instead, simply starting them in a new universe where they're the heroes you know without all the continuity baggage. Marvel did this recently with Wolverine: Revenge also by Hickman, with artist Greg Capullo.
"Jordan [D. White] barely got the words out before I yelled 'Yes!' to Spider-Man: Long Way Home," says Kubert. "A five-issue Hickman saga with Spidey, Hulk, and Punisher? Total no-brainer. With Frank Martin making the mayhem pop! Just Make Mine Marvel!"
Spider-Man: Long Way Home #1 (of 5) is scheduled to go on sale on June 17.
