Why wasn't [SPOILER] in You season 5? Netflix didn't ask her to be

If you've finished You's final season on Netflix, you might've been aware of a major character's absence. As it turns out, season 5 plans never included bringing her back

This article contains spoilers for You season 5.

In You's final season, killer Joe Goldberg's ghosts finally catch up to him. That's more literal than it sounds, in case you haven't finished season 5 yet - part of the plot sees Joe's victims from previous seasons actually return, though in a psychological rather than supernatural sense. But of those victims, one ghost was curiously absent - that was, Victoria Pedretti's Love Quinn, who was Joe's romantic interest/murder rival in seasons 2 and 3. Now, fans are asking why Pedretti didn't return, and Pedretti seems perfectly willing to explain:

Netflix just didn't ask her back.

The news comes from a social media interaction Pedretti had with a fan, first reported on by CapitalFM. In the exchange, said fan (sushantt07) responds to a post of Pedretti's, saying "We want your cameo in YOU SEASON 05." The Haunting of Hill House star clarified "I'm not in it," and then, when pressed on whether the creators tried to get her character back, simply says "nope."

As of this writing, the creatives of You season 5 haven't publicly spoken about the choice to not include Love Quinn as part of Joe's manifested guilt. This is especially curious as Joe's season 1 victim, Beck (played by Elizabeth Lail) does make a comeback, and in terms of story, Love had much more time with Joe than Beck did. Even more curious is the fact that Joe's son by Love, Henry, is a major part of this final season.

Then again, if you've seen You season 5, you know that Henry does deal a major blow to his father's skewed sense of his own morality. Perhaps, in that way, Love has her revenge after all.

You season 5 is streaming now on Netflix.
