Somehow, the Witch Hat Atelier anime was worth the wait [Popverse Jump]

Four years and long delays only meant the animators of Witch Hat Atelier could make the anime something truly special.

Waiting is a terrible thing, especially when you aren’t sure the wait will pay off. Since it started serialization in 2016, we’ve all been waiting for the anime of Witch Hat Atelier to become a reality. After years of hope and delays, we’re finally getting to see Coco and Qifrey in action and, thankfully, it was absolutely worth the wait.

Bringing Witch Hat Atelier to life as an anime was an obvious challenge from the start. The manga is known for its beautiful art and for its celebration not just of magic but of the relationships between people. It is simultaneously big and bold and colorful as well as quiet and intimate. The balance between these two sides is part of what makes Witch Hat Atelier one of the most popular ongoing manga and what makes it a nightmare for any studio to tackle.
