Wednesday's creators weren't planning on bringing Gwendoline Christie's Principal Weems back for season 2
Christie, whose antagonistic Weems from season 1 has turned spirit guide for Wednesday in season 2, was not what Alfred Gough and Miles Millar had panned for the Netflix series' sophomore season

We're just a few days away from Wednesday season 2 part 2's release date, and with it, the surprising return of Gwendoline Christie's Principal Weems. Don't say we spoiled it for you - Netflix confirmed as much when they put out a recent trailer revealing that Weems, who died at the end of seaosn 1, woudl be back as Wednesday Addams's new spirit guide. However, also thanks to an official video from Netflix, we now know that Weems's ethereal return wasn't always in the cards.
The news comes from a special behind-the-scenes look Netflix posted to their official YouTube page August 26. In it, Wednesday creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar spoke about the ghostly return of Game of Throne's Christie in their Addams Family spinoff, even giving fans a reason for her character's return.
"Nobody in our world is truly 'dead' dead," says Gough, "And it was very exciting to bring Gwendoline back."
"It wasn't something we'd planned from season 1," jumpes in MIllar, "Audiences fell in love with that relationship [between Weems and Wednesday]."
Christie herself also spoke about the return of Nevermore Academy's former principal, noting that her character and the titular Ms. Addams "sort of respect each other, but also, they sort of hate each other. [...] It's a fascinating relationship to explore."
Wednesday season 2 part 1 is streaming on Netflix now. Part 2 arrives September 3.
