Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan’s Paramount+ empire continues unabated with the news that Tulsa King is already shooting its third season — production started before the season had been officially announced — with, for the third year in a row, someone new in charge. Behind the cameras, that is; on the show, it’s still all about Sylvester Stallone’s Dwight Manfredi.
Paramount+ has officially announced that Tulsa King season 3 is currently in production, although a third (and, indeed, fourth) season has been on the cards since Stallone signed a deal with Paramount in late 2024 to continue with the show for two more years. The show’s future has looked bright since the first episode of the second season set a Paramount+ record for most-watched global premiere in September 2024 with 21.1 million viewers worldwide.
However, this isn’t as simple as the show continuing as it was before; there’s a new showrunner for the third season, continuing a trend for the show of switching the boss of the show with every year. Terence Winter served as showrunner in the first season, but stepped down for the second, which lacked a traditional showrunner entirely; Winter served as lead writer while Craig Zisk joined the show as lead director, with the two sharing duties traditionally performed by the showrunner. Now, for the third season, Mayor of Kingstown showrunner Dave Erickson is signing up for duty.
It’s unclear when Tulsa King season 3 will debut on Paramount+, but a late fall premiere would be in keeping with the schedules of the previous seasons, which debuted in November and September, respectively.
