We’ve known that The Last of Us season two is coming since just a few weeks after the first season premiered, which isn’t surprising considering how both fans and critics raved about it. It didn’t take long for HBO to announce a second season was on its way, but we’re still waiting for an exact release date for The Last of Us season two – and it doesn’t look like our wait will be over anytime soon.
It has been over two years since the first season of The Last of Us aired, so fans are understandably excited to see what is next. We’ve known that The Last of Us season two is on its way since January 2023, but since then we’ve had scant details about when it is going to come out. Part of that is because of the Hollywood strikes of 2023, which put writing and production on most shows on hold for several months. The initial update from the company said that that The Last of Us season two will come out sometime in 2025.
Shortly after that update, the cast of The Last of Us season two was back on set for filming in February 2024. Filming wrapped in August 2024, but it wasn't until January that we found out when we would see how the crew tackles adapting the more complex story of The Last of Us Part II. The Last of Us season two is coming to Max in April 2025, with a more exact release date on its way closer to the time.
The Last of Us season two is set to premiere in April 2025.
