The Irrational season 2 release date has been moved due to the US VP debates - here's the new debut date on NBC

Curious when you’ll get the chance to catch up with The Irrational again? We have the answer.

The Irrational starring Jesse L. Martin is returning for a second season on NBC this fall. The crime drama series was created by Arika Mittman and follows world-famous behavioral psychology professor Alec Mercer as he works alongside the FBI and police to solve special cases. The series is inspired by the life of Dan Ariely, and his nonfiction book Predictably Irrational: The Hidden Forces That Shape Our Decisions, published in 2008.

The first season of The Irrational premiered on NBC on September 25, 2023. Originally a ten-episode order, concurrently with the show’s renewal in November 2023, NBC added an additional episode. This brought the total number of The Irrational season 1 episodes to eleven.

The cast of The Irrational includes:

  • Jesse L. Martin as Professor Alec Mercer
  • Maahra Hill as Special Agent Marisa Clark
  • Arash DeMaxi as Rizwan
  • Molly Kunz as Phoebe
  • Travina Springer as Kylie

While the series was originally going to debut at the beginning of October, it was preempted a week by the upcoming VP debate. Instead, The Irrational season 2 will now debut on NBC on Tuesday, October 8, 2024.
