Acorn TV has established itself as a place for mystery TV series, and The Gone is certainly no exception. Starring Grey's Anatomy actor, Richard Flood, the series follows an Irish detective named Theo Richter who travels to the North Island of Aotearoa New Zealand to investigate the disappearance of an Irish couple. There, he teams up with a local Kiwi cop named Diana Huia (played by Acushla-Tara Kupe) as the two try to unravel how the couple's disappearance may be part of a larger pattern of murders in the area.
The Gone will have its two-episode premiere on Acorn TV on January 20, 2025. New episodes of the show will drop every Monday until the season wraps up with its finale on February 17. If you've been pining for a Kiwi mystery show in the wake of Top of the Lake, then The Gone has you covered.
This show was originally broadcast in Aotearoa New Zealand in 2023, but is only making its way to international screens now. In case you're curious about whether or not you want to get invested in The Gone, the show did have a second season that premiered in 2024 in New Zealand. Hopefully Acorn TV will have that season available for streaming sooner rather than later.
The Gone will premiere on Acorn TV on January 20, 2025.
