Ann M. Martin shares the swag she got from Netflix's Baby-Sitters Club set

What did the legendary author bring home from the Netflix adaptation?

At New York Comic Con 2025, legendary author Ann M. Martin sat down with Popverse’s Ashley V. Robinson in The Studio for an interview that revealed a plethora of fascinating details. Martin is, of course, the beloved writer who created The Baby-Sitters Club series, which in recent years has begun to be adapted from prose to comics by Scholastic Graphix. During the conversation at NYCC ’25, Martin revealed a fun detail: the swag she brought home from the set of the Next Baby-Sitters Club adaptation.

The topic came up when Robinson asked, “Is there any swag or any gifts or any art from any of the series that you’ve worked on that you would really like to own?” Martin answered, “I actually have very cool swag from the set of the [Baby-Sitters Club] Netflix show: Kristy’s telephone.” Martin confirmed that it isn’t a real phone, just a prop based on a real phone.

Martin was only able to visit the set of the series once, in 2019: “The before-times.” Martin explained that she lives on the East Coast and the show was being filmed on the West Coast, so she was only able to visit once. But the experience left a big impression. Not only did she get to meet the actors, but the set designers as well. “In each character’s bedroom on the set, there was every detail,” Martin said. “If you opened a drawer, there was stuff in the drawer… in their closets. It was very cool.”

Robinson asked if there was anything Martin would have liked to have left the set with, if she was a less moral person. Martin said, “Maybe some of the stuff from Klaudia’s room… The artistic room, and all her wonderful jewelry and accessories.”

If you’re curious to hear the entirety of the conversation between Martin and Robinson, Popverse has you covered. You can watch the whole video interview right now:
