What makes Lois Lane Lois Lane? Superman & Lois's Bitsie Tulloch has an answer

When she got the part of The CW's Lois Lane, which would eventually lead to her having her own show, Bitsie Tulloch dove into DC Comics' history to extrapolate the ideal Lois

Considering the fact that she's been playing the character since 2018, Bitsie Tulloch's explanation of what makes Lois Lane Lois Lane could've very well been 'whatever the hell I say.'  But that's not at all the answer she gave when Popverse's senior video producer Ashley Victoria Robinson sat down with the Superman & Lois actor. In fact, Tulloch didn't just give us a picture of the iconic DC Comics character that any fan would have to agree with, but revealed that she found the answer within the pages of DC Comics themselves.

"When I got the role," Tulloch tells Ashley, "I googled Lois Lane and I did some research and whatnot on what her history was, mainly from the comics."

We gotta say - immediately diving into research upon hearing any kind of news is already an extremely Lois Lane thing to do, whether Tulloch knew it at that point or not. But just what did Tulloch find, once she cracked open the pages of the character's eight decades of comic book history?

"It was not hard to figure out that what really makes Lois Lois is the feistiness and, you know, the doggedness, the determination, the work ethic, the pursuit of truth above all else."

"Truth above all else," might as well be the title of Lois Lane's autobiography... if she was ever given the time it took to write one. And with a new Lois Lane debuting in the DCU via James Gunn's Superman, we doubt very much that her schedule's going to be freeing up anytime soon.

Superman & Lois is streaming on HBO Max now. Watch Popverse's full interview with Bitsie Tulloch below.
