Bath & Body Works is answering our unasked questions about the Upside Down with new Stranger Things merch

Ever wondered what a Demogorgon smells like? Then you're in luck!

Remember that scene in Stranger Things season 4 where Max is getting strangled by Vecna? If you’re like us, you were most curious about what she was smelling at that dire moment. Sure, she was fighting for her life against an unknowable, seemingly unstoppable monster from another universe, but we couldn’t help but ask ourselves – what does Vecna’s moldy breath smell like? Other than, you know, mold. Well, we can’t answer that specific question but Bath & Body Works are ready to answer any other weird scent-based questions you have about the Upside Down.

In a collaboration with Netflix, Bath & Body Works has crafted products to assault your senses in new and strange ways. Things like Demogorgon scented candles and Upside Down scented hand sanitizer. Because hygiene is important, even when you’re fleeing from nightmarish creatures beyond human comprehension.

But what does the Demogorgon smell like? According to Bath & Body Works – and they’re the experts here – it smells like Black Orchid petals, Spicy Cedarwood, and Dark Patchouli. The Upside Down, on the other hand, smells like Mossy Stone, Smokey Birch Tree, and Eerie Fog. Honestly, we expected it to have more of a musty scent, like mothballs, but sometimes it is nice to be proven wrong. And we’d be lying if we said we weren’t excited to find out exactly what Eddie’s Leather Jacket smelled like, but is that before or after he got eaten alive by a swarm of flying monsters?

Sometimes marketing tie-ins end up answering questions that no one was asking, but we’ve got to do something while waiting for news about the long-awaited Stranger Things season five. Now at least we can make our house smell like Vecna’s bedroom while we binge season four this Halloween.
