The Stranger Things Instagram broadcast channel just came back online after 18 months of silence - to tease a season 5 trailer of the Netflix hit
In what feels like the same kind of clandestine operation familiar to Hawkins, Indiana, Stranger Things has just awoken a near-forgotten source to communicate a major reveal

A mysterious message from a long-silent source, hinting at strange and fantastic dooms to come? If that sounds like something out of a Stranger Things plotline, well, it should... although it's not entirely fictional. The Instagram broadcast channel for Netflix's hit sci-fi series has sputtered to life after over a year of silence, and it may be teasing a secret reveal the likes of which would fit right into Hawkins - that is, a Stranger Things season 5 trailer.
Let's back up a sec. In case you haven't been following the Stranger Things Instagram account, you might not have known that it's ben 18 months until the last message appeared on the channel. That all changed July 15, 2025, which is coincidentally (or not so coincidentally) 9 years from the debit of season 1. Yes, on the same day I'm writing this, ST's Insta sent out the following message:

This message was quickly posted to the Stranger Things subreddit (thanks u/hourlynee!), where fans immediately began speculating that it was meant to tease a trailer for the upcoming fifth and final season of the show. Just a few hours after the fact, Stranger Things confirmed that a "teaser" was on its way via a post on its Instagram.
But exactly what are we going to get when Netflix drops its next Stranger Things footage on July 16? And why did Netflix choose the day after a major Stranger Things milestone to put said video out? I don't know, but I can say that, as soon as Popverse can get its hands on that upcoming trailer; we're going to be scanning it or every last detail and reporting back to you, faithful reader.
Stranger Things season 5, volume one debuts November 26 on Netflix, followed by volume 2 on December 25, and the ultimate finale of the series on December 31.
As we all collectively wait for Stranger Things season 5, here's the keys to getting ready:
- How to watch Stranger Things in chronological or release order
- Getting to know the Stranger Things season 5 cast
- There needs to be more death in Stranger Things, says co-star Gaten Matarazzo
- The Stranger Things time jump between season 4 and 5 has been confirmed by Netflix - and it raises some serious questions
- "They land the plane," David Harbour describes the Stranger Things finale, which he calls its "best episode"
