Star Wars: The Ninth Jedi is getting spun off into its own standalone special with Production IG after Visions' success

The Disney+ series will launch with 'Star Wars Visions Presents: The Ninth Jedi' in 2026

Star Wars Visions gave fans a chance to see brand new takes on what Star Wars could be — and Lucasfilm is ready to take them deeper into those stories, with a spin-off series announced at Star Wars Celebration Japan: Star Wars Visions Presents.

Intended to be an expansion of the main series, Star Wars Visions Presents will be an irregular series of one-off episodes, longer than traditional Visions episodes, that will expand on existing Visions material. The series will launch in 2026 with a third episode of ‘The Ninth Jedi' from Production IG, building on the two episodes that have appeared in the primary series; the official title of that episode will be ‘Star Wars Visions Presents: The Ninth Jedi,’ according to the announcement. (A second episode is part of the third season of the show, as announced at SWC Japan.)

In the original Ninth Jedi episode of Star Wars: VIsions Volume 1, the daughte of a lightsaber forger is set on the run by the Sith for trying to resurrect the Jedi Order.

The release date for Star Wars Visions Presents: The Ninth Jedi is currently unknown, beyond the 2026 launch. Star Wars Visions Volume 3 will begin on Disney+ October 29, 2025.
