Star Trek confirms exactly how high Captain Pike’s hair is in Strange New Worlds

Finally, we have an answer to our biggest Star Trek question: what exactly goes into styling Captain Pike's hair on Strange New Worlds?

The higher the hair, the closer to heaven, right? Or, should we say, the stars?

In case you haven't noticed, Captain Pike's hair on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is magnificent. Ever since his debut in Star Trek Discovery, in fact, Anson Mount's Star Trek hair has seemed to defy gravity, seemingly possessing the strength to defeat ten Gorn in ritual combat. In a franchise with a lot of great hair moments (including Patrick Stewart's excellent baldness), Pike's look is in keeping with Trek tradition at this point.

Now, with season 3 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds debuting July 17, we finally get confirmation on just how tall the Enterprise captain's hair actually is on the show. In a behind-the-scenes video posted onto the Star Trek YouTube channel, a stylist on Strange New Worlds walks us through the ins and outs of transforming Mount into Pike. And the length of his coiff? "4 inches on the front," the stylist says. Take a look at the full video below.

So there you have it, folks. You don't need fairy tale-length hair in order to channel one of the most stylish Starfleet captains. All you need is a blowdryer, a round hairbrush, a bottle of styling powder, a mini flat iron, plenty of hairspray, even more patience, and 4 inches of hair. I believe in you.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3 will begin streaming on Paramount+ on July 17, 2025.
