She-Hulk star Tatiana Maslany breaks down the infamous Megan Thee Stallion twerking scene (and the haters!)

“Shut Up”: Tatiana Maslany has a message for people who complained about She-Hulk twerking with Megan Thee Stallion

It was the twerk heard round the world. Some people loved it. Some people hated it. Either way, nobody could ignore it. Back in 2022, the third episode of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law ended with the title character twerking alongside rapper Megan Thee Stallion.

Maslany broke down the spicy dance sequence during a spotlight panel at ACE Superhero Comic Con 2024 moderated by Sean Tajipour. First, she was asked what she did to prep for the scene. “I had been to multiple Megan Thee Stallion concerts before this, so my prep began years ago,” Maslany answered.

“I was ready go! I was shaking, and Megan was so cool and so calm. And so tall! And so sweet. The best thing about her, and I’ve talked to a few people about this, is that she’s such a dork. She loves comics. She’s so into the culture of it. For her to be on that set was very exciting. She got to live out a little dream as well. That was the greatest moment of my life. It’s all downhill from here.”

Maslany was aware of the discourse surrounding the scene, but none of it bothered it. “I also love how many people were like, ‘That ruined Marvel.’ I’m like, ‘Shut up [laughs].’”

That’s the beautiful thing about the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s a universe where a former surgeon can travel through dimensions performing magic, a secret undersea kingdom can influence political events, and a rapper can twerk with a gamma-radiated attorney.
