In many ways, Roswell defied expectations. The science fiction drama was constantly on the verge of cancellation, but it always found a way to survive. The WB almost canceled Roswell after its first season, but fans rallied behind the show, sending Tabasco sauce to the network executives. The fan enthusiasm worked, and Roswell was given a stay of execution.
Unfortunately, it didn’t last, and WB opted not to renew Roswell for a third season. Once again, Roswell beat the odds and was given a third season on UPN. The series had a way of escaping death, but nobody can run forever, and in 2002 their luck ran out.
“It was probably the very end, maybe three episodes left. I remember Jason [Katims] came to set, and kind of let us know that we’re going to wrap it up. We’re going to end a little early,” Max Evans actor Jason Behr recalls duringWatch the Roswell reunion panel from Seattle's ECCC 2025 with Brendan Fehr, Majandra Delfino, Jason Behr, & Nick Wechsler | Popversehttps://www.thepopverse.com/tv-roswell-eccc-2025-panel-video-on-demand-ondemand-livestream this weekend. “It was one of those things where you’re like, how are you going to wrap this up with just 2 episodes left. It was really pretty truncated.”

“Obviously, with the Tabasco campaign, we thought it was going to end after the first season,” Michael Guerin actor Brendan Fehr adds. “Then we got picked up, and then we thought it was going to end after the second season, and we got picked up again, because of the participation in the campaign of all you guys. Up until Jason told us, there was that feeling of are we or are we not coming back. I just felt like that there’s a pretty good chance we come back because of all you guys out there who just wouldn’t let it die.”
“Looking back on it, it kind of still sucks,” – Brendan Fehr says.
