Rick and Morty season 8 release date: The Smith/Sanchez family returns to Adult Swim for more existential scifi comedy

Space Christians aren't the weirdest thing that reality-hopping Rick and his (maybe replaceable) grandson will see in Rick and Morty season 8, but not for lack of trying

After a tumultuous but extremely successful seven seasons, the duo of Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith are hopping back into the time/space machine for more scifi shenanigans. But the Adult Swim animated comedy, which began all the way back in 2013, isn't just gearing up for more one-off episodes - if what the voice cast hints at is true, than this season may just be the most emotionally resonant for the series as a whole.

Rick and Morty season 8 release date is May 25 on Adult Swim, with new episodes streaming the next day on Warner Bros.' platform Max. This season begins with an episode titled Summer of All Fears, and those of us who watched the Rick and Morty panel from LACC '24 can't help but wonder if this is where we'll find out what the cast meant when they said the show would return to the "Fear Hole," from last season.

We also can't help but wonder if we'll be getting more Evil Morty this go-around, but hey, we've been wondering that ever since that little bastard tucked those wires behind his eye. (Which had to really hurt, right?)

Rick and Morty season 8 comes to Adult Swim May 25, and streams on Max the day after.
