Peacemaker season 2's teaser offers up an unexpected DCU reveal (and a 1980s DC Comics flashback)

Expect some surprise Superman guest stars in the second season of Max's Peacemaker

Sure, the new trailer for Peacemaker season 2 sets up the show’s central conflict between its title character and the father of the hero he killed back in 2021’s The Suicide Squad, but also — that’s one entirely unexpected piece of worldbuilding for the new DCU at the start, as well.

Just days after we reported that Sean Gunn’s Max Lord was “kinda” in this summer's Superman, we’ve found out why… he’s apparently behind the team of heroes that includes Hawkgirl and Guy Gardner’s Green Lantern, with all three characters apparently auditioning for new members as Peacemaker season 2 begins. Not that they’re particularly impressed by Peacemaker, it seems.

The so-called “Justice Gang” is beginning to look very like a version of the Justice League International of old, with the Guy Gardner/Max Lord connection and low rent audition process, fascinatingly enough. Of course, Peacemaker flunking out of his interview is just part of the bad luck that seems to be following every one of the 11th Street Kids around in the new teaser. Take a look for yourself:

Peacemaker season 2 debuts August 21 on Max.
