It has become a bit of an open secret among One Piece fans that season two of the Netflix live-action series is probably going to be followed shortly by season three, but Netflix has been tight-lipped it. With no release date confirmed for One Piece season two – and potentially a long wait ahead of us – we weren’t expecting anything on season three anytime soon. However, one actor has confirmed that not only is One Piece season three going to go ahead, but it is actually shooting later in 2025.

During an interview to promote his role in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Roronoa Zoro actor Mackenyu basically confirmed that Netflix wasn’t going to stop at season two of One Piece – they were already planning to start shooting season three. “We do have projects lined up for this year before we shoot Season 3 of One Piece, but I can’t tell you anything about that, so it’s not going to be fun for y’all.”

Mackenyu’s confirmation that One Piece season three is already being eyed up even before the second season comes to Netflix is exciting, but the fact that he seems to imply that season three is going to start shooting in 2025 is the most curious. If the rumors that season two has been pushed back to 2026 are true, that would mean that season three will be confirmed by Netflix before season two airs. This makes a break in how the streamer has typically approached their series, which entails waiting to see how audiences respond to order more episodes.

The actor was also pretty blunt about the fact that it will be a long time before we hear anything more about One Piece season three, but just the (unofficial) confirmation that it is happening is exciting enough for fans.
