Chad Michael Murray's new Netflix Christmas stripper movie was the "most fun I've ever had making a movie," along with A Cinderella Story

He played Nice in A Cinderella Story, Naughty in Netflix's new The Merry Gentleman, but apparently, both experiences were at the top of Chad Michael Murray's list

Chad Michael Murray is pretty much synonymous with the term heartthrob, but over his long career, fans have gotten plenty of options as to which flavor of heartthrob he can be. There's of course his turn as Lucas Scott in The CW's One Tree Hill, his (unfairly underdeveloped) role as Tristin DuGray in Gilmore Girls, and if you're freaky (no judgement), his role as cult leader Edgar Evernever in Riverdale. But in his own estimation, Murray's got two favorite characters he's played; one of which is from Netflix's spicy Christmas romp The Merry Gentlemen, and the other, well, is probably one of your favorites too.

"It was this and A Cinderella Story," Murray told Business Insider. "Those are the two top most fun I've ever had making a movie, and I really believe that that comes through in the work."

Apparently that's true - or at least, that's what the ratings seem to say. Since its release on November 20, The Merry Gentlemen has enjoyed two weeks of being in Netflix's Top 10 English-language movies, debuting at Number One and garnering a whopping 24.5M views in the two weeks since. But the film, which stars Murray as a handyman turned stripper, did make Murray a little nervous before shooting.

"It turns out that your metabolism does slow down when you get older," Murray said, referencing the amount of skin he shows in the still-PG Christmas flick. Murray also had some reservations about how his children would eventually have to deal with him as a sex symbol, and admitted that his wife, Sarah Roemer, was "slightly nervous" about the project. But at the tail end (which Murray clarifies viewers will not see), the actor decided to trust the moviemakers.

"It's so very tongue-in-cheek and goofy and fun," Murray says, "And look, we're telling a story. We're pushing the envelope a little bit, but it is still a holiday movie. We're still fun, festive, and light, with a little bit of spice this year."

Personally, I can't see that being an absolutely terrible thing for the legions of Chad Michael Murray fans out there. But if you're really looking to keep your holidays Murray and bright while staying on Santa's nice list, you can always check out the actor's other favorite project.

The Merry Gentlemen is streaming now on Netflix.
